BANDUNG || Indonesia memborong lima medali pada International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) ke-19, Minggu (13/8/2023).
Mereka sukses meraih prestasi di semua kategori.
Fikri Ghifari Hanifah, siswa SMAS Pribadi Kota Bandung, Fiona Zhang (SMA Kristen Petra 1 Surabaya), dan Dimas Dwi Rachmat Susilo (SMA Al Kautsar Bandar Lampung) menyabet medali perak. Sedangkan Mikhaila Rainissa Nugroho (SMAN 3 Bogor) berhasil merengkuh medali perunggu. Tim Indonesia pun mengantongi medali perak di kategori presentasi poster.
Adapun juara umum diraih oleh pelajar dari Rumania.
Kepala Dinas Pendidikan (Kadisdik) Jawa Barat (Jabar), Wahyu Mijaya pun mengapresiasi pencapaian yang diraih kontingen Indonesia. “mudah-mudahan, tahun depan di Irlandia Indonesia bisa menjadi yang terbaik,” ucapnya.
Ajang ini, menurut Kadisdik, juga memberi momentum bagi siswa Jabar untuk menunjukkan bakat keseniannya kepada masyarakat internasional. “Berbagai hal terkait kesenian yang ditampilkan di ajang ini diisi oleh siswa SMA-SMK kita, ini sangat baik,” tambahnya.
Semangat Kebersamaan
Sedangkan Chairman of iGeo 2023, Hendraman menuturkan, seluruh kegiatan yang diikuti bukan hanya tentang mendalami pengetahuan geografi, tapi juga menumbuhkan semangat kebersamaan, kolaborasi, dan mengembangkan kemampuan berkomunikasi lintas budaya.
“iGeo bukan hanya merayakan pencapaian akademis, tapi juga membentuk pribadi-pribadi yang sadar akan tanggung jawab global. Siap berkontribusi dalam mencari solusi bagi permasalahan dunia yang kompleks dan saling terhubung,” ujarnya.
Setelah Indonesia, Irlandia akan menjadi tuan rumah untuk iGeo ke-20 tahun 2024 mendatang.
